I work in the AI world and understand a lot of reasons to hate AI (like how every company is trying to ram it down people’s throats). However I am genuinely curious why the hate is so popular, and what arguments/opinions people have, and would like to hear the discussion.
Even advertising, which is forced on everyone and disliked, doesn’t seem to get as vocal a response for hate.
Why do you hate AI? Why do you think the hate is so vocal/common/strong?

You put this better than I could. I hate it when I get that tiny rush of “oh that’s cool” whenever I see/hear/experience something before realizing it’s completely bullshit.
“Oh shit, Shaboozey did a collab with Eminem? Gotta hear that. This is so coo-… fake. It’s fucking fake. Fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu…”
Every time, it feels like it “pollutes” or “taints” my brain. I don’t want that shit in there. For a similar reason to why I immediately go and look up a news story I see somewhere random on Snopes if it seems a little too perfect.
This exactly. I am thinking of blocking YT shorts, even if some of the information might be useful, cause there’s just a lot of AI slop, though not as much as there used to be. if before I was distasteful of AI slop, I watched this documentary from DW on it, where they showcased the slop that AI could produce, which was kind of eye opening to me. it increased my distaste for it more, it clearly showcased the soullessness of it.
