Early 2000’s. Is this old enough for old school cool? We all decided to go as a group for prom, with no one having a date.

Man, nobody is cool at that age. It’s impossible.

Non joke aside, fuck prom. It’s only as cool as you want it to be, and if you had fun, that’s all that matters.

…??? Completely untrue. I was cool at that age. And I did it by not giving one flying fuck. I’d have looked at this group and rolled my eyes. Until I saw Peter Griffen in the top right, and laughed my ass off.

Then I’d have gone home, smoked some weed, and played some N64.

In case you haven’t noticed, we have re-entered the matrix era.

You might even call it the matrix revolutions era.

I’ve been wondering why the population here seems to skew older compared to Reddit. Maybe younger people don’t really care about the direction Reddit has gone over the last ~5 years? Or maybe they always used the official app and never knew pre-enshittification Reddit…

I think it more just skews technical.

Probably the younger folks went to short form video sites like tiktok. That seems to be their jam.

For internet based demographics, I think so lol. But I’m still pretty young so my judgement is probably skewed

One of the guys in my prom group won prom king and then we all went home in my mom’s minivan and then played pinball and watched laserdiscs and betamax because I pretty much lived in a museum.

Did you go to school with Kevin Malone?

I’m not seeing the resemblance to Kevin Malone on this one.

I actually dated the guy in the bottom left corner of the photo. He is the one squatting down, with no dress jacket on; just a long sleeve dress shirt. We dated for about three and a half years after high school ended. We almost got married. I was madly in love with him. I think he married someone that also went to our former high school. She isn’t in this photo, though. They dated after our relationship ended.

My guess is that they liked someone else but didn’t like anyone in the group.

Or there are a lot of unrequited feelings in this picture.

Basically all the girls are cute, but there’s two that stand out to my tastes. And I’m imagining what they look like 20ish years later.

        Still good I bet.

Ah, neither of those are me, I’m sure.

This post has been here awhile…any reason you’re asking now? lol. You aren’t in this pic, are you? One of these guys introduced me to Reddit, and probably has a Lemmy account.

Pretty sure I once worked with the guy on the far right at a health food store years ago.

I think he is now an MMORPG designer.

The one standing, or the one kneeling? One made pizzas for a living at a corporate chain restaurant. The other one was in the army.
