Hypocrisy is the trademark of conservatism. It’s us who get fooled into taking conservatives seriously. Every time right wingers whine about anything, it is best not to entertain their crying as anything serious and tell them to fuck off.

Bad faith arguments should not be elevated to the level of serious debate. That only leads to dilution of seriousness of the nature of debate.

Maybe it’s because “Shut up and sit on the bench for 90% of the season” doesn’t roll off the tongue /s

Sorry, kickers, you have the lamest position in the lamest mainstream sport. You kick and then sit down. Why anyone would think a random kicker of all players is worthy of giving a commencement speech is beyond me.

Kicker is the number two job on an NFL team I would want unless fired head coach counts. As long as you aren’t total ass you can do it pretty well for a long time. Hell, Butkers own head coach said much earlier in his career stated that the only time he speaks to his kicker about anything is when they show up to spring practice he checks out their butt and says “well your caboose is still big so we’ll see you again next year”.

It doesn’t take the mind of a Peyton Manning & Richard Sherman or the freak athleticism of Tyreek Hill and Randy Moss to be a great kicker which, not saying Butker is a scrub at kicking because that’s probably hyperbole but he’s not Adam Vinitari either. Additionally there’s virtually zero chance that his life experience is something recent grabs could build off, like maybe someone like Alex Smith or Nick Chubb who overcame extremely significant injuries to play at the highest level again could be.

I would bet his agent was asked by some school board member that campaigns on “family values” and didn’t think anyone would question someone from the latest superbowl winner. So fucking stupid

      Harrison Butker

Otherwise-forgettable kicker who thinks women are only valuable for procreation and housekeeping.

Go ahead and look him up for yourself to get the full story.

        otherwise-forgettable kicker

Clearly Butker sucks at being a person but it is unnecessarily dishonest to say he’s forgettable. The first paragraph of his Wikipedia article:

He is second in NFL history in career field goal percentage (minimum 100 attempts) with 89.1.[1] Butker led the NFL in scoring in 2019, and is a three-time Super Bowl champion, having won LIVLVII and LVIII with the Chiefs.

Why? What other NFL kickers are good at their job but have questionable insights outside of work?

Dunno. I don’t follow football. So I can’t name any kickers. Was wondering if they’re the same, or if this guy is actually forgettable to any one who actually pays attention.

I think he’s the Kansas city chiefs kickers and he game a commencement speech including lots of trans phobia and (I think) homophobia and mysogony. Conservatives have, predictably, supported and defended him.

It’s a little off because it should be “White MALE Supremacy” since Butker is a mediocre white man in the privileged position of NFL Kicker who is most known for his insistence that women are only valuable for procreation and housekeeping.

Butker also mentioned the ‘tyranny of diversity’, which sounds a bit white supremacist to me.

I am not so sure about that, ‘even’ when brown men say something they’re told to just ‘play sports’. Shutting down Megan Rapinoe for being a lefty-LGBTQ woman is still white supremacy-based.

But supporting the guy who said women’s highest achievement is having children is misogyny pure and simple. It’s not just because he’s white.
