Minnesotan here, he’s a homerun. Living under his governorship has been great (for one thing we’ve actually got a public option for health insurance here) and I’ll be a little sad to see him go. His Lt Governor is also great, though, so we’ll be okay.

Peggy is gonna fill his shoes and then some, but yeah. If it weren’t for her I’d be like “mine!” Clinging to his ankles all the way to DC.

He’s a great pic for VP…. And republicans don’t even know what to do with him. It’s epic.

Walz is a middle of the road Democrat somewhat like Tim Kaine. Of course, the Republicans will say he’s a dangerous leftist and point to the Sanders endorsement.

Calling him middle of the road is disingenuous. He seems to be left of center. And that’s a good thing, of course.

"Tim Walz I know very well. He served in the House. To characterize him as ‘left’ is so unreal. Really, it’s mystifying to me to see someone that I worked with — shall we say right down the middle — characterized on the left in this regard.”

Sanders and progressives also endorsed him ahead of the picks, mind you…

He was moderate in the House and far more progressive as Governor. Hence why both groups like him.

That he’s a uniter in the party. He was somewhat moderate as a House Rep but routinely worked with progressives who loved him, but then proved himself to fight for progressive policies as Governor.

So look at his record as Governor. AOC endorsed him, too, what so we make of that? You’re making a big deal about nothing.

9 out of 10 Americans don’t really give a shit who endorsed him until you tell them he’s a radical and the socialists love him. And, he isn’t.

Ok? Nobody here said he was socialist. You were arguing against the notion that he is center-left, which he is. Progressives and moderates both relate to him. Hence… Center-left.

They didn’t say they knew him better than Pelosi. Merely that Pelosi is a beacon of honesty.

Isn’t she the most successful investor of all time, like more successful that people who do it for a career.

I do have a problem with Pelosi and her insider trading, yes. I think we should hold our representatives to a higher standard, even if they’re on our side.

If he helps Harris win, he will have done more good for humanity than he could have as your governor.

Project 2025 will absolutely destroy this country and cause the entire world as we know it to collapse.

I feel like the tankies make all leftists look like uncompromising lunatics. We are capable of taking small wins, negotiating, and working with moderates.

His stance (and Harris’) on cops looks pretty bad, as a leftist, but Americans fucking love cops so being ACAB isn’t a safe political position. Kind of the same issue with Isreal: a US politician can’t be anti-Isreal, they have to take a mediated stance. But it seems like Walz knows how to navigate the nuance of those issues.

On other issues, I’m flexible myself. I’m a southerner, and I’m pro-gun-ownership. It seems like Walz is too, and has over time changed his pro-NRA stance to something more moderate and acceptable: guns ok, with regulation and limits. That’s a reasonable stance on guns, one that I also share with my deeply Republican (anti-trump) parents. And that excites me because now I have talking points to try and push them towards a D vote.

He was. But a lot of the recent progressive moves in Minnesota he at least helped get done, if not outright spearheaded.

Abortion got codified here, weed legalized. Progress on LGBT issues. Climate change. He’s done well.

I’ve never particularly cared for Harris’ personality, she’s unrelatable to me. I only recently learned she’s from California so that tracks, and since I’m a Midwesterner it also tracks why so far I like Walz. His policies are more progressive than Harris’ too.
