It was completed in 1941?! That’s so much farther back than I would have expected based on the pose. Men weren’t sexy in the 1940’s, they just said “swell” and all had those thick black glasses.

I love how every generation thinks they’re the first one to discover sex. Like, how do you think you got here?

        What? Men weren’t sexy?

My great aunt had photos up of my late great uncle doing pushups on a railroad track, in short shorts, with her sitting on his back. I can’t remember if the pictures was from before he went to war or after.

They did wear those high pants and dressed more formally, but it was because they had less clothes.

He died before I was born, but the man was apparently very fun even after coming back from the war

Well, it was completed in 1941 while the US was still strongly isolationist. We didn’t enter WW2 until after the attack on Pearl Harbor, which was December 7th.

So yeah, there was a world war going on, but the statue was planned and completed while it was largely “business as usual” in the US.

Theo Roosevelt boxed a shit ton of people as well until he went blind in one eye from a punch from one of his staff if I remember correctly. Gave a pretty long speech after being shot in the torso and had the foresight to make sure they didn’t kill the shooter. Tough guy. Lots of horse riding and outdoors in his life.

Bro used to wrestle bears. He was a not great lawyer, he was however an amazing athlete by all acvounts. Marfans and possible heds is a weird combo (trust me) you’ve got leverage and undue flexibility, add some strength and you basically have a gimped octopus.

We have historical Records where Abe describes himself as ‘Ugly’, this statue seems historically inaccurate.

Best part of being a guy is you can be so ugly you actually start being somewhat attractive. Like Williem Dafoe. A huge dong helps too. Like Willie Da…I mean Williem Dafoe.

This the youngest picture of him I could find. He’s 37 or 38. Obviously he’d look different in high-def, but he doesn’t look so bad:

He’s attractive and sexy, but not hot or pretty.

        If that even makes sense.

Americans have made their politics into a mythology and lincoln is basically their jesus. As it turns out not exactly jesus, but you get the point.

I thought it looked like him too, but alas, no. Would be funny if every governer had almost naked statues of themselves as just a thing Californians do. Not even realistic ones, although Arnold in his prime would look straight up classic.

His thumb in his pants. I feel like I’ve seen Abe (not shirtless) posing this way before. It looks familiar.

Or it’s just because I dated a guy that would lean back like that.
