The 58-year-old convicted felon accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump as he golfed in Florida in mid-September filed documents Thursday demanding the recusal of U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon from presiding over the criminal case, citing the Trump-appointed judge’s dismissal of the former president’s Mar-a-Lago classified documents prosecution, Trump’s ensuing lavish praise of her in public, and the “prospect” of her “promotion” to the U.S. Supreme Court should Trump win the 2024 election.

Trump did say he’d be a dictator day 1. The guy is clearly crazy, but I guess we’ll see what happens.

How does she consistently end up assigned to Trumps related cases? How small is the judges pool in that area?

      It’s a very small pool there… I remember it’s like 3 or something and 1 is parttime.

And why is there only one picture of this woman?

Well if there’s only three then the pool is quite small. But I do think in this case it should be handed to another judge.

She just refuses to take any case unless her handlers tell her to, so her schedule is always open

This article does a good job of explaining how she was assigned to the documents case last year, and still applies to how cases are assigned in her district in general. There just aren’t a lot of judges in the pool of available options.

If you try to assassinate someone, get F’d, but I mean she clearly is biased for Trump so he doesn’t NOT have a point.

Yeah. Everyone deserves a fair trial. If what you did was awful, a fair trial will show it. I don’t think Cannon is capable of being fair if there’s any relation to politics.

This is where all those lawyer shows like matlock and mason get it wrong. Prompts people in general to assume that a win is not guilty, when in reality a “win” is decided by how freaking guilty your client is.

This guy is pretty freaking guilty, and he’s going to pay for that.

But with Cannon as judge… he’s absolutely going to get fucked harder than appropriate.

(Let’s be honest she’s guilty too- of corruption.)

I remember reading a comment from a defense lawyer saying he had 3 roles depending on the situation a client was in. He could be a fighter, who would convince the world that his client was not guilty. He could be a negotiator, who would try to plea down charges or come up with a deal of some kind. This guy’s lawyer is probably taking on the third role of tour guide, where the client is so screwed all the lawyer can do is tell the client what’s happening next.
