Bigotry and it’s easy to lobby against literally a handful of people in a given population. Real problems are hard and rarely actually solved by conservative policy.

Bigotry and a distraction from economic issues.
Seriously. Do we really think that all of these old men suddenly care about fairness in women’s sports?
this issue is so aggravating but that’s one background detail that’s just so absurd. republicans made a hobby of openly mocking women’s sports up until just a few years ago.
It’s a distraction. People won’t care about tax cuts and tariffs if they have something like this to be furious about. Honestly, I’d never really heard of or thought about a trans person until that manufactured bathroom bill all those years ago. I just assumed there were crossdressers and maybe a few people who got sex changes occasionally. Even then I was confused as fuck why it was something to worry about.
The people that wake up in a cold sweat about where trans women (they focus about 99% of their energy on trans women) are relieving themselves seems to be relatively low and I bet it’s nearly the same people that obsessed over gay marriage (between men, especially - again, it seems their energies are nearly all directed at gay men and what they do behind closed doors). Which is weird, because I’m cishet, and this kind of thing is not something that I ever really find myself worrying about, like, ever.
But there is a certain kind of man that just seems to get so worked up over the very notion of trans women (and honestly, they still obsess over gay men, too, it’s just that they lost the battle over gay marriage and people now just mostly yawn at the idea of gay marriage), and I think we can make a pretty good guess as to why they have these obsessions.
And then there are the people like Nancy Mace that are probably mostly doing it for performative bullshit points for their stupid marks.
It’s manufactured outrage, they did the same thing with abortion. Nobody cared about it before the Republican party started telling people to care about it.
I’m pretty sure it’s because republican men got turned on by a few of these individuals and they can’t reconcile with that.

And during. Upon every thrust.
The goal is to legally define sex as assigned at birth as static and to make adult transition illegal and impossible. Directly stating this would alienate most, so instead they must focus on the dozen or so trans school athletes to hide under a more “reasonable” sounding argument. This also serves to falsely convey the idea that trans people are everywhere. There need to be enough of us to be a dangerous target to keep the Fox News Hour of Hate going.
Extreme minority of people you will likely never know that you interacted with are the real problems in America.
Won’t you make sports safe for women again? You know how much we value female sports as a country. We are not sexist assholes in the slightest. Please keep paying attention to those bad bad trans people while we put more rapists in charge.
They should probably combine their bullshit narrative about caravans of brown people heading for the southern border with bullshit narratives about caravans of trans heading to THEIR town straight from California or whatever.
Both of these “concerns” are things they use to keep their base distracted with nonsense…
