    You know what else is self replicating? Computer worms. I don’t see any headlines about computer worms outsmarting humans though.

      I am not a coder at all, but I think it would be pretty damn trivial to give software the ability to replicate itself considering worms have literally been around since the Internet Worm in 1988. RTM was by no means an AI coder.

        Software has been self replicating since it has been able to write text to a file, which… Has been a while

          Yeah, I really don’t get it and the article doesn’t mate it any clearer to me-

          They put all the LLM files into a folder, gave the LLM access to the system, told the LLM where the files were, then told it to “replicate yourself.”

          Sounds like the very, very simple shit I barely understood how to do back when I was occasionally writing or editing batch files in the MS-DOS days.
