I suffered for so long and then finally caved and bought a custom-fit pillow for side sleeping. Literally had to go to a physio to measure the space between my neck and the end of my shoulder. It was some of the best $200 I have ever spent, I cannot recommend it enough.

It’s one of these bad boys. Mine is specifically for side sleeping but they have back sleeper ones too.

I’m not super sure but I think they just give you a different size that’s better fitted for in between. Mine is just a tad bit too tall if I sleep on my back, but I had requested a side sleeper only.

Why does that cost so much? It’s just a different shape it can’t cost that much more to make than a normal pillow lol

The material is significantly better than other memory foam pillows of similar shape that I’ve had, but I suspect part of it is the gimmick too of like a medically approved custom sized pillow. I’ve had it for about a year now though and unlike other memory foam ones I’ve had, it’s kept its shape very well and is still as comfortable as when I first got it.

There is more space between your head and the ground when you are on your side

On your back you want a gradual increase in height from your shoulders up

A back sleeper pillow is the right size and shape to fit in a coffin, which is the only time you should be “sleeping” on your back.

I sliced a memory foam pillow to half thickness with a single edge razor and put it in the same case as a firm pillow. It’s stiff as fuck for the first week or 2, but hoo boy is it the best pillow I’ve ever had. My wife kept stealing my pillow, so she got the other half of the foam pillow

Shredded foam, pretty much any kind, with a zippered end for adjusting. Toss it in the dryer on cool for 10m when it loses it’s floof.

Pfft two. I’m using 3 pillows. One for my head, one to hug, one to go on top of my head to block out sound and make me feel secure.

Even in a hammock I use a very small camping pillow - the Snoozy from Wise Owl - but I sleep on my side, I can’t fall asleep on my back. When I first tried hammock camping I was up almost 72 hrs straight trying to fall asleep on my back. But I just curl up my legs and sleep like a baby now.

I use a “cube” memory foam pillow with a cooling side. It’s the best thing I’ve ever bought

What I need is a pillow that is very soft and conformal on the bottom, with a kind of rigid foamy part on top. I sleep on my side with my arm under my head and I need a pillow that molds to my arm but keeps it separate from my head so I don’t pinch my sclipula.
