Mock the US for being dumb… that’s fair. Fentanyl addicts are typically victims of the system though. You’re mocking the wrong part.

Besides, King Trump would love to throw addicts in camps. Only the poor ones, obviously.

Americans seem completely fine with mocking and insulting Russians, Israelis and others, but when someone mocks Americans, all of a sudden it’s inappropriate to make fun of the general population for their government’s actions.

American here. The US fully deserves to be mocked, blocked, ridiculed, and shunned.

I’m a Democratic Socialist, and have never voted for a Republican in my life. I’m as stuck with this BS as are the Britons who didn’t vote for Brexit. I laughed at the Brits while Trump was in his first term saying, “At least our fuck-up will be gone in four years.”

Pretty much. We have been shameless for a decade.

We literally have home grown Americans walking around with Nazi uniforms in the street. Like actually wearing Nazi signs. You know, the symbols our grandparents used to shoot at on sight.

There are so many internal problems with racism, sexism, the economy, healthcare. But we are still screeching about America #1.

Trump is a symptom of something systemically wrong with your entire society. If this leadership is the end product of the American system then it is your problem and your fault and you should either try to do something about it or stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Yeah IDK why so many Americans are afraid to admit that Trump is merely a symptom of the depraved and corrupt society that created him. The American people, and American culture are the problem. It’s not like anyone invaded and installed Trump as a puppet, our dumb asses elected him out of foolishness or greed. Social change is the only way to fix this long term, and I don’t see that happening because nobody is willing to do any retrospection on what really caused Trump to take power.

It’s just how it goes, you only have one administration and people see that as representing your country. Happens with Russia too even though Russians certainly didn’t vote to keep Putin in power for decades so you could just as well say none of them’s to blame but whether reasonable or not people think they should rise up like Ukrainians did in that case…

It isn’t just one administration, that’s what Americans don’t understand. It wasn’t just Trump that brought us here. This outcome (fascist US) was inevitable with the geopolitical outcome of WW2 unless the US became more socialist. You didn’t, every President made the situation worse, including Obama (we prefer to call him Obomber). Wake up. You are the bad guys. You ALWAYS have been.

You have to understand that there is a major difference between Russia and the USA though. Russia has been under totalitarian dictatorships since the middle age. They had a brief respite in the 90s when gangsters took over the country, and now its back to totalitarian dictatorship again. Russians has never had a chance to develop democratic values. The USA on the other hand certainly has, you just collectively decided that you hate brown people gays and trannies more than you like democracy.

Seems in poor taste to make fun of some of the most tragic parts of our society imo

Edit: I’m not saying that some sort of protest or criticism of America is not warranted, I definitely think it is. I’m saying doing so by making fun of the most vulnerable people in our society, that the system has failed the most, is in poor taste and comes off as punching down at the victims of the system rather than punching up at the system itself.

It’s equally poor taste to threaten to invade a country, which will likely end in exactly that aspect of your culture being imported there first, because this will lead to the local population losing their universal healthcare, free education, their workers’ rights, and their social security.

Nah, it’s just people who live in a tiny country that’s constantly threatened by THE military superpower of the world (who is supposed to be guaranteeing their safety) with annexation venting some of that stress of being powerless and hopeless in a comedic way.

A comparison an US American might understand a bit better: it’s like making fun of the police and/or ICE. You know there’s absolutely nothing you can do if they decide to murder you because they are scared of a squirrel. So you make fun of them. It won’t change a thing, but it helps to release some stress and anger in the face of absolute powerlessness against the threat you are facing.

I live in a very pleasant suburban neighborhood in the US. I don’t ever see addicts zoning out like in the OP. But that doesn’t mean I should pretend that the problem doesn’t exist. That’s what my conservative family members like to do.

Oh, oh, somebody should let them know that the CIA recently admitted to intentionally fucking with the global heroin supply potency because they thought it would fuck up Afghanistan’s economy (allegedly). Because they assumed if people couldn’t get consistently potent heroin they would just stop buying it? (Allegedly)

I don’t think the CIA has actually commented on fentanyl being added to the U.S. heroin supply when they were intentionally fucking with the potency of heroin, but “whoever” introduced fentanyl to the U.S. took care of the potency problem. Now fentanyl has replaced heroin as the most commonly used opiate in the the U.S… so

So “somebody” was kind enough to offer a solution to the potency problem the CIA created by providing a cheaper and more potent synthetic alternative to heroin that can be made in a lab instead of grown in Afghanistan, and now that alternative is what dominates the U.S. market. Its weird because I feel like I’ve heard a similar story about the CIA and a cheaper more potent drug being introduced to the U.S. market before… 🤔

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2025/11/12/cia-afghanistan-heroin-poppy-seeds/

In 20 years of grinding war in Afghanistan, the United States dropped a multitude of weapons from the skies: Millions of tons of ordnance. Hellfire missiles launched from Predator drones. Even the “Mother of All Bombs,” the most powerful nonnuclear bomb in existence. And, amid the more conventional projectiles, tiny poppy seeds. By the billions.

On and off for over a decade, the Central Intelligence Agency conducted an audacious highly classified program to covertly manipulate Afghanistan’s lucrative poppy crop, blanketing Afghan farmers’ fields with specially modified seeds that germinated plants containing almost none of the chemicals that are refined into heroin, The Washington Post has learned.

The covert program, which has not previously been disclosed, is an unreported chapter in the 2001-2021 U.S. war in Afghanistan and in the long checkered history of American efforts to combat narcotics globally, from Latin America to Asia. Its existence was confirmed by 14 people familiar with aspects of the secret operation, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a classified project.

Anyway, heads up Greenland. Who knows, they might even try to introduce an entirely new drug to the market to replace one that’s already selling instead of just smuggling fentanyl

No, no, this is American culture.

Its a very real part of millions of Americans lives.

You’re just showing your privilege by instead prefering insults based on a part of American culture that is … more applicable to yourself?

Maybe just less overtly grisly, disgusting?

… that’s not how insults work.

The goal is to offend you, and it has worked.

The fact that you are offended by a stereotyped depiction that is being wrongfully applied to you?

          Yep.

Thats a stereotype, thats what that is, that’s how that works.

An innacurate caricature that is applied far too broadly.

I guess you’re just not used to having a hurtful stereotype be applied to you.

… because all insulting stereotypes are unfair.

Thats… did you actually read my comment, the last 1/3rd ish?

Further, you’re not really even describing an insulting stereotype, with your new scenario.

You’re describing using a specific insult term.

                  A slur.

Can you see how that’s not the same thing as a stereotype?

I also find it funny that you would even use the term cracker to describe a white resident of Greenland… when … well, you would think that if there is some equivalent term in Greenlandic or Danish, it’s probably not the same term, or a transliteration of it.

You’re projecting your own cultural frame of reference onto another.

Meanwhile, also in this thread, I’ve got another critic assuming I am going to justify the usage of a ‘tactical slur’.

I’m not permaonline enough to know precisely what that means, but it is funny to me that on the one hand, one person is criticizing me for assuming I would argue in favor of that, yet I’ve also apparently offended your sensibilities, and you’re throwing out cracker, specifically as a slur.

What you listed are extremely mild stereotypes that Americans have heard a million times even from other Americans. They are about as offensive as “French eat croissant” or “Brits drink tea”. And these kids clearly want to be offensive to Americans

You can tell this one really hurts us (us being Americans, not you and me) because of the reactions. You have someone on this thread threatening Greenland with CIA drugs.

Like we look bad enough without this shitass reaction people are having in these threads.

You really can’t see the broader context here? You’re really incapable? They’re not posting to hurt the marginalized, they don’t care if they ever see it. They’re posting for the rest of you, as commentary that this is how you end up in a selfish suportless individual culture. It’s exaggerated of course but it’s packing some heat. Again, very effective.

They go together. A lot of Americans are stressed out poor–destitute people just trying to make it to their next paycheck.

That’s why we have weak protests and also why a shithead like Trump lying and saying he’ll fix it, has a chance politically.

The wealth gap is wider than ever, and that’s going to be what finally pushes the country one direction or another. I’d rather that we didn’t have to collapse to reform things, but the billionaires probably aren’t going let reforms that will hurt their number happen.

We’re gonna have to eat the rich, but it’s probably going to cost countless poor people’s lives.

All those school shootings are incredibly sad. Kids deserved none of it. And I don’t only mean death, injuries and trauma for kids who experienced it, but also the “combat” training and fear for kids fortunate enough to only hear about it. And over the years, US did nothing to stop it.

Drug addicts are definitely a much better target for jokes.

You should look up conservative “humor” some time, 98% of it is going after trans people, minorities, drug addicts, poor people, anyone they see as less then. You might find it really funny.

Going after marginalized people isn’t the own you think it is.

        • But they’re not going after any of that, they’re going after the whole American society that creates that.

Try looking through a non internal American politics view, I know it’s really hard for an American to put themselves in someone else’s shoes, but truly it’s a criticism of your entire system.

Mocking drug addicts isn’t going after all of American society. Do you think Charlie Kirk was going after all of American society when he did the same thing?

Its like trying to mock Europeans by doing racism against Roma people. Its not criticizing all of European society, you’re literally doing the same shit our conservatives do.

When you mock the victims of a school shooting, you’re not criticizing all of American society or system that creates school shooters, you’re just being a reactionary piece of shit, and we have enough of those.

That’s exactly the difference, because that would be focusing on the system victimizing the children, rather than mocking the children themselves for getting shot.

Hell you could genuinely do the children getting shot as a satire of conservatives’ lack of response to school shootings, but that would be mocking conservatives, not the victims.

Its not that any group is off limits, its the actual message can’t just be “haha <oppressed minority> bad”

                • Children scared for their lives living in fear is funny to you? You sicko don’t make fun of the victims!

You’re just choosing arbitrarily what to take offense at. America’s self inflicted opiate problem is just as ridiculous as it’s self inflicted school shooting problem. Bringing it back to American political parties is missing the entire point. It’s America, not the Republicans threatening world order. It’s America’s obsession with capitalism that prevents them from fixing their problems.

They’re mocking the society that is so sick and disgusting that it allows for people to become addicted to and ruined by drugs, en masse.

They’re doing it in a way that offends your moral sensibilities, because you are seeing individual victimized people who belong to a different group than yourself.

They’re seeing a society that is fundamentally broken and disgusting, getting worse, not doing anything to collectively better itself, of which you are just as much a member of that group as the fent head is.

Yeah, we do actually need a bit of ‘fuck your feelings’.

We need to actually fix things, not just complain and be offended on behalf of others whom we are not actually helping with our moral indignation alone.

              We need to do better.

The world has run out of patience for all forms of our self-righteous bullshit.

We already has another recent post get pretty big explaining that… nobody who isn’t American cares about American’s apologies, their perfect moral stances that… result in absofuckinglutely no change whatsoever, other than Americans having scripts by which they justify their self-centered ness and be insufferable on the internet.

Everyone is at their wits end with all of us, the way that we have been at our wits end with our own political/ideological opponents for a decade now.

              Don’t expect sympathy or pity.

We’ve burned through all the goodwill, none remains.

You can say that isn’t fair, to which the rest of the world would likely laugh, uproariously.

I don’t suggest it as a general demeanor, moving forward.

I wouldn’t call that dunking on the addicts. I think it’s dunking on the system that allowed the pharma companies to make them addicted (and get rich beyond comprehension in the process) and refused to do something meaningful about it.

You are hallucinating a lot of depth that doesn’t exist. The butt of the joke is the crippling addiction of the most vulnerable people in American society.

As a rule of thumb: if the joke wouldn’t bother the corrupt pedophile cabal currently plundering half the world (or their volunteer jack boots) then you’re punching the wrong way. If this was about rich kids on coke or a billionaire in a k-hole it would be an entirely different joke
