I think it’s probably that there’s money in being a content creator and living under capitalism is hard af.
Ooh I really like the way they formulated the second paragraph in the text. It’s very nicely put
“I will never understand…”
Sorry, but even if it isn’t good, I think we all do understand.
I don’t. Indeed I don’t understand most of what’s happened to the American “left”. It seems that it has lost its collective mind and is actively sabotaging its own purported goals.
Because people at point A trying to get to point B want the simplest and straightest way to get there. Want a picture of a giant penguin knocking down a house? Spend many hours and/or big bucks drawing it or engaging an illustrator, or spend 5 seconds typing a prompt to an AI and getting a free result instantly. I’m able to avoid it because I don’t use graphics much, but if I can’t see why other people use it, I’m probably refusing to see.
That is the reasoning of a literal sociopath, however, with no principles. The OP is predicated on people with principles.
No it’s just a regular person who is trying to get their thing done with as little hassle as possible. It could be called lazy but it’s normal. That’s also why so many people still use Facebook, etc. You and I are on Lemmy because we’re nerds and nerds are fussy, but we’re a tiny minority. You have to recognize how the world actually is rather than how you would like it to be. So get off the high horse.
Again, if you preach ideals you should live up to them. Just from a practical standpoint it’s a terrible look; principles are inconvenient, and if you’re “normal” by being lazy and ignoring those principles, you very simply don’t hold those principles.
At which point your message will be ignored or laughed at. Which is why the USA’s so-called “left” has been collecting 'L’s for a good two decades or more.
So go ahead. Be lazy. Use degenerative AI to advertise your movement in direct contradiction of the principles of your movement. You’ll blend in fine with the “left” and the right will continue to consolidate power and increase misery.
But hey, at least you didn’t have to actually hire someone to do work! Win, win!
Shrug, it’s like someone driving a gas-powered car to attend a protest against climate change, instead of getting there by some much less convenient method. I’d smile at the irony, but if I pretended to not understand why they did it, I’d be posturing.
