Completely ootl of this tesseract thing. Could someone fill me in? It’s a Lemmy app?

Is it a good idea to get into it? Usable? FUBAR after some fiasco?

Power doesn’t corrupt, it reveals corruption. For some people, it takes shockingly little power to go full mask off. This guy will probably go on to make some HOA legendary.

Disagree. It takes the reins off the easily corruptible. Once there are no or severely limited consequences for actions we get to see who people really are. Also it’s highly probable that the easily corruptible are drawn to power.

Side note, I have a personal belief that if you don’t occasionally get a couple of downvotes, then you’re too agreeable, and you likely don’t think for yourself enough.

You have to be comfortable in your own skin and think for yourself and say what you actually think in a public forum. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Simultaneously, if you get tons of downvotes almost every time you post, you’re an asshole and you need to reevaluate yourself.

If you occasionally get downvoted into oblivion because you didn’t express your thoughts clearly or because your thought actually is kind of fucked up, then you should keep that post visible and evaluate and learn from it.

Sometimes 60 million people are wrong, sure, but also, sometimes you’ve not fully thought out your position

But if everyone likes everything that you have to say, then how much of what you’re saying are your own original thoughts?

And if you’re not sharing at least partially original thoughts, then what are you actually contributing to the forum?

Edit: I wish I could find the person who downvoted this comment. I feel like they did that just to give it extra credibility, and I really appreciate that. That’s pretty freakin’ funny.

Well I just down voted you to show that I both agree and can think for myself. Am I doing this right?

Agree 100% especially the leaving up stuff that wasn’t communicated clearly, or in some cases someone read something into it and everyone else just assumed you ‘really meant’ what they read into it instead of what you wrote. Best to leave it there to chuckle at how people tend to infer all kinds of stuff based on their personal experiences that you probably weren’t even aware of.

It’s so much better if you hide the votes entirely. Then suddenly I don’t feel bad about getting 50 replies that say I’m wrong, because who knows, maybe 500 non-repliers thought I was right? I don’t know, because I can’t see! Haha!

I’m a bit sad I didn’t save his unhinged rants where he made it clear he was trying to hide it. His alt has been going around screaming about how it was optional. He deleted the comm when someone quoted it back to him.

Fucking malware, we should just defederate. Incredibly hostile dev and admin, the content on startrek.website just isn’t worth it.

He had a few crazy rants in the last day. The one I’m talking about had this bit in it:

Because I’ve been pretty blunt about all of this, I’ll keep it going. There’s no good way to do what I wanted without either sounding like a dick, calling people out, or otherwise causing mass ire. There’s just not. Basically I was just banking on people not noticing until they’ve already had some kind of feeling that “Lemmy just feels more friendly lately” and putting two and two together when realizing why.

Really tired of him acting like he is doing us a favor. No one asked him to start a secret ban list. What an asshat.

Sorry, I don’t recall exactly how to reference a user. Apparently most Lemmy clients think that’s a community for some reason.

What even is the point of trying to damage control at this point? It’s not gonna change anything lol. If I were him I’d just stay away from the internet for a few months. Bro should go socialize or something, touch grass, masturbate, idk anything else than keeping on digging their own hole deeper

Yeah much better for his own growth if he stuck around and holds his hands up to criticism
