AI slop channels are flooding YouTube to the point that I am filled with dread clicking video thumbnails fearing it would be slop, a time waster.

Then I thought: This is 2026, surely there are extensions that blocks these slop channels from a crowdsourced list, just like SponsorBlock!

I went to Firefox’s extension site and searched for “slop” and there are results, but there doesn’t seem to be critical mass of users on any of them.

I looked at one with the most users, and the permissions and data requirements are pretty fishy.

IDK if there’s one that are more trustworthy and more well-known, that perhaps named differently. If so, a recommendation is much appreciated. Thanks.

My way of enjoying Youtube is by only watching Youtubers I subscribed to. Random video watching has always yielded a very low S/N ratio, even before AI, because 99% of Youtube is shit and so is the algorithm that pushes it into your eyeballs.

Yep. I got the control panel for youtube extension and just turned off basically everything. No recommended videos, no homepage, just my subscriptions. I’ve saved so much time avoiding rabbit holes and sanity from not having slop pushed on me

    I don’t trust browsers extensions anymore… maybe just a directory site, I don’t mind doing a search.
