    Wow, wtf?! What was the reasoning for taking away home auto repairs? That’s insane in a world where everything is getting stupid expensive

      It’s an attack on property rights (both real estate and chattel). In a world where antitrust law is dead and governments everywhere have been fully regulatory-captured by megacorps and cartels, resisting their rentiership is considered tantamount to theft.

        There is this theory and also the theory that car dealers were lobbying to get people to take their vehicles to dealers to service.

        While this makes no sense, (someone who changes their own oil in their garage isn’t the type of person who would ever get a dealer service), I have heard several Dealer Service managers praise the bylaw and criticise and censure their employees who do backyarders in their own time.
