Summary

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) faced backlash online after claiming, without evidence, that Democrats might attempt to “steal” the certification of Donald Trump as president.

Her remarks, posted on social media, drew criticism as overly dramatic and unnecessary, especially given the routine nature of the certification process, which proceeded without incident.

The comments came on the anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, leading many to contrast the peaceful proceedings with past unrest.

Critics dismissed her rhetoric as attention-seeking and partisan posturing.

“It’s what we would do, and we KNOW they’re worse than us!!!”

    Then nothing happens.

“Well they knew they’d fail, so they didn’t even TRY! Not because they didn’t want to, but because we win so hard!”

The next person who tries to tell me to treat maga with compassion first needs to explain to my satisfaction why they all need to be the biggest asshole in the room 24x7.

In this limited resources kind of world we live in, tough choices have to be made from time to time. And those that are obligated to make those kind of choices bear the burden of that which has to be sacrificed. Due to this, they will be assholes to the victims that unavoidably suffer.

However, if groups like maga are even bigger assholes for no real reason, those who bear the burden won’t be as ostracized. It is for this reason that we should be compassionate.

At the end of the day, someone has to be the biggest asshole in the room and they unwittingly offer themselves for the role…

That’s completely fine. No need for anyone to understand every comment made.

If you’re curious, i will attempt to explain. If you’re not, stop reading here. I have yet to fully forget where I was going with this. Tomorrow would have been different.

Let’s take it from the end “biggest asshole in the room 24x7”.

So the planet is akin to one bit room we all have to share. It has limited resources and so not everyone can be accommodated. Conflict of interest happen all the time where two or more groups need a consumable resource that has an insufficient quantity to satisfy everyone’s needs. At that point, a choice will be made on who gets to consume those resources and regardless of fairness, those that are left out will feel resentful. Those that have to make that choice or gain those resources will be assholes to the victims that are left out. Can’t prevent that.

So there will always be an “asshole in the room”. And as long as there is at least one, then having a “biggest asshole in the room” is also unavoidable.

We’ll keep the “24/7” for later. Now we move to the front of the comment, “treat maga with compassion”.

Regardless of maga or another group, there’s a conflict of interest at every level of society. You can’t escape it as long as two different entities compete for the same thing. As emotional creatures, resentment will without a doubt influence us in thought and action. Anyone saying otherwise is blind to their own emotional state.

So the “biggest asshole in the room 24x7” draws away attention from all the other “assholes in the room”. But all the other assholes aren’t just the big ones, it’s everyone that has to choose who gets something and who gets nothing. Every manager at every level in every aspect of society is an asshole to those who aren’t given what they need even though they’re just handling the limited resources made available to them.

There will always be a “biggest asshole in the room”, no matter how small an asshole they may be, if at all, because as long as someone is in the room, they’re the “biggest asshole” by default.

That’s why maga should be treated with compassion. They unwittingly sacrifice themselves or are intentionally sacrificed and attract the greatest ire, allowing all others to escape the same level of reprisal, earned or not.

Yes, they’re dumb, they’re being used, leopards ate their face. But that’s life. They don’t have an exclusive monopoly on this. It happens with or without them. So why not have some compassion and pity? They don’t seem to have any for others. Yet why do some seem desperate to emulate that sort of behaviour? I thought that’s what people hated about them in the first place?

Unless I misunderstood the comment and this was actually about replacing them… In which case, I apologize.

I frankly don’t know if we agree or not, and I’m not even sure you replied to what I was trying to communicate, but I wanted to acknowledge the effort you put into your reply and the ensuing comment chain. I’ll read it again later.

You might not get it the second time either, but that’s ok. It’s just some comments thought up on the fly, not a thesis that needs defending.

I guess you’ll never fall if you set the bar below your own feet.

Stop being pretentious and communicate lol.

The bar is a narrow surface, which means stepping on it would be to pursue balance at the risk of failure. The longer one stands on it, the greater the exhaustion and the higher the chance of falling down. Though one will fall down eventually, it’s still an exercise that trains and strengthens mind and body.

Pretentiousness is a part of communication. Because people pretend all the time, whether it’s with others or themselves. It’s a facet we all share in some way. Why deny it? I am who I am and you are who you are. Yet you expect me to change because it doesn’t conform your expectations or something? Well, tough.

If there is ever a time to “steal an election” or more clearly, refuse to certify it, it’s when a convicted felon is taking over and talking about being a dictator on day one.

I wonder if this was the plan, keep calling fraud so when you totally break the rules, your opponent has already doubled down on following the rules no matter what.
