I knew a Greg once in grade school and junior high… When I met them again in adult life they were a lady but remembered me. I give her kindness but it’s still weird running into someone like that at work who knows you but you don’t recognize them (for obvious reasons)

The only Greg I ever knew lived in Ohio and we all know about Ohio.

Probably because members of TST aren’t followers of Baphomet. They don’t even believe it’s a real entity, let alone follow it or worship it.

Am I living in a bubble? I have never met an annoying satanist. But I also don’t think I have ever met a Swiftie (are the fans called Swifties?) either.

Satanists are annoying but only to shitheads because they remind the christofascists of the logical consequences of their actions/rules.

LaVey got his shtick from Ayn Rand, and his Satanism was basically opposition to the hippie peace-and-love stuff. Nowadays, its attitude is indistinguishable from mainstream Republican Christianity.

The Satanic Temple were (AFAIK) a prank/art project based around the thought experiment of “if Christianity is about cruelty and domination, what if Satanism was about niceness?” The people running it are allegedly somewhat problematic, though its existence did spawn a raft of sincere Satanic-themed social-justice movements like the Global Order of Satan.

He could not be more divorced from the modern satanic temple which has essentially absolutely nothing to do with religion/worship/woowoo of any kind and only uses the religion label to leverage the same kind of loopholes that are baked in to society to benefit christian nationalism. They support atheism and science and just try to be as annoying and obstructive to organized religion in government as possible.

so did he, but with shitloads of pseudoscience, materialism, and social darwinism. even laveyan satanism wasn’t a religion.

This one might not because it might be possible to reject its installation on that ground.

The Satanic Temple uses it to get Christian statues removed by saying “oh you have a Christian statue so in order to not discriminate based on religion, you need to install ours too”

I can imagine that the US is so prude that boobs might prevent that from working

The law is the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

Forcing public building, by law, to display religious doctrine of one single religion is a textbook example of breaking the First Amendment.

If you can’t understand that, I dunno what to say other than try reading a book.

              Yeah, sometimes they are…

In the case of the First Amendment though, I’m gonna have to disagree.

Canonically, Baphomet does have breasts as well as male features along with wings and scales, solve (dissolve) coagula (combine), pointing up and down, etc…

Whole thing is symbolism for balance and opposites. Just an edgier YinYang iirc originally dreamt up to slander/persecute the Knights Templar after they had gained too much power (and again iirc maybe have been doing some raw ass shit, but I am no KT historian and the Catholic church isn’t what you would call a neutral party in recording what happened)

I would’ve gone with Ayn Rand, Chris Rock, the Trinity of monotheist dieties and Adam Smith.

But to each their own aggregating fanbase

Swift, Marx, Clinton and Baphomet, one way or another those solicitors are getting you off.
